UPDATE August/September 2024
Welcome to Culm Valley u3a
Culm Valley u3a is part of a national movement that was founded in 1982. The UK-wide collection of locally-run interest groups provides a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members enjoy exploring new ideas, developing new skills and enjoying activities together.
We meet in local community venues and in members' homes around the Culm Valley in Devon and wherever we meet you can be sure you will receive a warm welcome, make new friends, develop whatever interests you have and have fun. We look forward to meeting you very soon.
Our monthly Members' Meetings are held at 2pm on the first Thursday in the month (except in January). We meet at Willand Village Hall, Gables Road, Willand, EX15 2PL. Arrive anytime between 1.30 and 2.00 to socialise and link up with other members, visit the Interest Group tables and find a place to sit. New members are always welcome.
For news of upcoming meetings and other activities, click on Events for up to date news of the various Interest Groups; click on Interest Groups on the bar at the top of the page.
Our Next Monthly Meeting
Thursday 7th November 2024
Entertainment : The Tiverton Warblers
And now for something completely different to quote our friends from Monty Python.
After a varied programme of talks this year ranging from a micro-engraver, the Nobel Prize, rescuing Indian street children and saving our woodland heritage, in November - our last monthly meeting of 2024 - we welcome local male voice choir The Tiverton Warblers to entertain us with their mixed repertoire of familiar and not so familiar songs. To keep the men in line they’ll be conducted by Lynne and introduced by Edna who will no doubt tell us how this ensemble of Tiverton bowls players became popular entertainers across the county in their off season.
What is u3a?
u3a brings together people in their ‘third age’, i.e. the age when you have finished working full-time or raising their family and have time to pursue and develop their interests and explore new hobbies.
For u3a members learning is its own reward, as we socialise and learn for pleasure, in a friendly and informal environment.
